I like the Widget area that is part of Thrive. Since our organization is a small group of professionals, I removed the birthday alert. I was also able to change the RECENT POSTS to read Victim Stories. I was able to add photos.

What I would like to do now is to have a summary of each post appear right under the title. Is there a suitable field? I think we will be turning off the comments so I guess we could use that field.

I used a WP theme that allowed for summaries of pages and posts. Then there were settings to make them appear or disappear. It was University by Cactus  sold on Theme forest and Enovato

You have been SO helpful. I hope this isn't difficult.

    Hello, Beth

A pleasant morning to you, and I hope that you are doing well.

You can use the 'More Tag' feature of WordPress to achieve your desired layout. For more information of the said feature, please visit this link (http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-properly-use-the-more-tag-in-wordpress/).

    Jasper,

You are always so helpful. I watched quite a few videos and searched for this but I didn't know the word "more." This is perfect.

    Jasper,

I tried using the MORE function but the first few words won't appear in the GEARS widget. I only see the title of the post.

I also learned about how to find the EXCERPTS and wrote one. It won't appear in the widgets area either.

I can see the title of every post and the picture, but not the sentence or two that I want to appear. I guess I could make the titles even longer....

    Thanks again,

    Beth

    Hello, Beth

Good day, I hope that you are doing well.

It seems that we had overlooked to handle the 'WordPress Excerpt' in Thrive. I had already reported this issue in our team and we will include the fix in the next update of Thrive.

For the 'Gears Recent Post' widget, the said plugin does not have a setting that would allow you to display the except of a post.

Alternatively, you can use this plugin called 'Recent Posts with Excerpts' widget (https://wordpress.org/plugins/recent-posts-with-excerpts/). However, you need to add your own 'CSS' to make the style of the plugin blend to the style of your site.

I hope I had clarified your concerns and had assisted you very well.

    All the Best,
    Jasper
